Dominic E. 'Dom' Petrella, 61, of Monaca, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 6, 2012, at Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation in Darlington.
He was born on June 5, 1950, to the late Elmer A. and Frances (Tressler) Petrella. He was a proud graduate of Monaca High School, Class of 1968. Dom served in the United States Army from 1968-1971 and served in Vietnam from 1970-1971. He was a machine operator for Westinghouse Electric Co. from 1974-1987 then did various jobs until unable due to illness. He was well known for his love of the Steelers, Pirates and Penn State.
He is survived by a son, Elmer S. Petrella (Krystal) of Chippewa; a daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Ted Frazzini, Enon Valley; two granddaughters, Sammantha and Ameelia Frazzini; six brothers and sisters, Joe and Ann Petrella of Monaca, Steve and Pam Petrella of Raccoon, Matt and Mary Petrella of Chippewa, Gary Petrella of Conway; Cheryl and Jeff Pickrell of Monaca, and Amy and Jeff Brown of Monaca. He has 30 nieces and nephews and 26 great-nieces and great-nephews. He leaves behind four very special friends, Rose M. Petrella, Mechele Tuno and Laurie and Gar.
Friends will be received Monday, January 9, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, (724-728-4000), where the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 862, Beaver County, will conduct military honors at 4 p.m
