Gary N. D'Jovin "The Fly," 54, of West Aliquippa, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2008, at home peacefully with his family by his side after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born on June 18, 1954, in Aliquippa, a son of the late Nicholas and Marie (Corsi) D'Jovin, he was a member of St. Titus Catholic Church. Gary was vice-president of Local No. 1211 for J&L Structural Steel Corporation and was a former employee of J&L Steel Corporation By-Product Division. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in West Aliquippa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister.
He is survived by three daughters, Tina Spragg and her husband Greg, and Nicole and Megan D'Jovin; two sons, Michael V. and Dane D'Jovin; a grandson, Anthony D'Jovin; a sister, Gloria Chernko and her husband James; two nieces, Anna Lane and her husband Donald, and Terri Amadio and her husband, Jeff. He is also survived by his former wife and lifelong friend, Victoria Capone, and Spootzie, his cat, and Curly, his hamster.
Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the DARROCH MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, www.darrochfuneralhome.com, where prayers will be offered on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:45 a.m. at St. Titus Catholic Church.
Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
