Note: Info from Jack DeJovin, Oct 2008: "she was well remembered by Amabile's two oldest children, Angelo and Annie. Maria Irene was alive in
the 1920's when Amabile returned to Sant'Eufemia to marry third wife Dominica (or Domenica) DiCosmo. In fact Aunt Annie named her oldest Irene after her grandmother."

Note: Info from Jack DeJovin, Oct 2008: "Carmine Vincenzo D'Amico and Giuseppa D'Antonio also had a son whose name I am not sure. That son was the father of Maria D'Amico, born March 21, 1894 or 6. She was married to Giacomo DiVecchio and together they raised my father, Jack C. DeJovin, in Youngstown, Ohio. Although she was second cousin to Amabile, she was much younger. The closer connection was between Maria D'Amico and my father's mother, Nunziata Timperio. Maria and Nunziata grew up together in Sant'Eufemia and were best friends. When Nunziata died, Maria was a logical choice for Amabile to get help to raise my father."
1930 census, Youngstown, OH, 30y, immigrated 1920, first marriged at 23y.
Info from Jack DeJovin, Oct 2008: "I knew her as a grandmother and by the name Ci-Mahdi, my childhood attempt at pronouncing Zia Maria. Her closest friends and my father often called by a name of endearment that would sound out as Mahdi-ooch. I believe that to be a familial pronunciation of Maria-ucci a common form of nick name.
She had one brother, Pietro who settled in Youngstown and lived next door, and two sisters: Caroline who married Phillip Pallone and settled in Detroit, but moved to Youngstown when Phillip died; and Anna (Annine) who stayed in Sant'Eufemia.
Her nursing home stay was a very short 2 or 3 months. After Giacomo died, she continued to live at their home at 171 N. Osborn Ave. in Youngstown. She lived alone; walked to stores; gardened; cooked and canned her produce every year through the autumn of 1991. She was considered by all to be a strong independent person of great compassion and charity. She succumbed while convalescing from the complications of a fall at her home in the winter of 1992. She and Giacomo raised my Father, Jack C. DeJovin, as there only child: first as an infant for 2 1/2 years beginning 1922 upon the death of his birth mother, Nunziata (Timperio) DiGiovine; and, then again from age 10 1/2 to adulthood upon the death of his birth father, Amabile DiGiovine. Maria d'Amico was a 2nd Cousin of Amabile and the closest friend of Nunziata whos friendship started as childhood best friends in Sant'Eufemia. Giacomo was also a good and trusted friend of Amabile.
Growing up in Youngstown, I fondly recall Sunday dinners at noon with Giacomo and Maria (ci-ja and ci-mahdi). On those occasions, my parents and sisters and I would go directly from church to their home for a family visit over dinner."

Note: Info from Jack DeJovin, May 2004: "I can tell you that Rafaele DeVecchia had a first cousin, Giacomo DiVecchio born 1888 in Sant'Eufemia and died 1968 in Youngstown Ohio. I knew him very well. His Father was Carlo DiVecchio a brother of Nunzio."
Info from Jack DeJovin, Dec 2006: "I will research marraige date of Giacomo DiVecchio and Marie D'Amico, but quite sure of his 1888 yob. There was another DiVecchio, a cousin of Giacomo, older and much revered; and lived in Youngstown: Raphael DiVecchio. He would likely have been a friend of Ambrose and closer in age.
Also, before coming to Youngstown, Giacomo DiVecchio lived several years in Colorado, working in a Coke mine. Seven years, as he would reminisce. I have his shotgun from those days and I think he was a bit of a cowboy. He did not "send for" and marry Marie D'Amico until after that time. It was a long distance arrangement that lead to their meeting and marrying in NY."
Info from Jack DeJovin, Oct 2008: "Maria D'Amico was married to Giacomo DiVecchio and together they raised my father, Jack C. DeJovin, in Youngstown, Ohio.
Info from Jack DeJovin, Oct 2008: "Giacomo DiVecchio raised my father in Youngstown. He was born 1888 and he did die 12 Dec 1977.
I was extremely close to Giacomo. He was the only grandfather I knew and he was a big part of our family life. I will send you a photo if you like. At one time you thought that he was not related to you. Has any knew information changed that? As a toddler I could not say Zio Giacomo as my father had called him as a youth and as my father wanted me to address him...all I could manage was ci-ja. That name stuck and became the nickname that any and all kids and eventually adults across the extend family used with affection.
Giacomo worked 40 years at US Steel Ohio Works in Youngstown. His friends and co-workers all called him Jake. For a few years after WWII my father worked at the same place with him and on occasion would call him Jake. His close family friends from outside the mill called him Giacomine...this included a Raphael DeVecchio (Cousin?) and a Pietro Damore who I do not think was from S'E, rather a nearby town in that part of Italy."
1930 census, Youngstown, OH, indexed as Jocoma Deveachio, 40y, first married at 20y, immigrated 1920. Lived next door to Peter d'Amico and wife Olga.
WWII Draft Registration, DOB 24 Jun 1888, listed as Jake, references wife, Mary
