"My mother's name was Ruby Margaret Zarlengo, she was born in Denver, CO on Aug. 13, 1904 Her parents names were, George (Gioacchino) Zarlengo (Zarlenga) and Elisabeth Fabrizio Zarlengo. My grandfather came to Colorado to join his father and brother Charles (Gaetano) they too started a business, there were other brothers, I remember one that we called Uncle Dan and I think he had a son named Henry, married to Florence. Anyway they had one daughter Mary Lou, and I went to high school with her. She died several years ago.

Charles lived near us (4185 Hooker St.) in North Denver and his children were Henry, Ernest, Charles, Louis, Dominick, Frank, Vincent, Mary and Olga.

My mother's brothers and sisters were, Anthony, Albert, Roland, Arthur, Loretta (I was named after her), Ida, Eleanor and Ercelia (Ceil). "

My great grandparents: Giandomenico Zarlenga (born 1847, Pietrabbondante, Italia) and Maria Concetta Pettine (Foreli, Italy). Came to the US in the late 1800's with three brothers and landed in the Denver area of Colorado - my grandfather grew up in Cherry Creek area outside of Denver. His name was George Zarlengo.

According to the old newspapers the Zarlengo's became very prominent. My great grandfather died from a head-wound - loosing a piece of his skull from a black-powder explosion. He and his brothers had a road building construction company. They helped other Italians come to the US - so many of the construction company employees were Italian. My grandfather had several brothers and two sisters. I remember Charles the youngest and Joseph because of visiting with them years ago. I had two aunts Rosie and Neti (I think that was her name) Zarlengo who never married - she had a big party for me when I visited with my oldest daughter (then one year old) in 1974 in Denver. I believe one of my grandfather's sister's name was Josephine. I need to contact my mother for the names of all his siblings.

We also have relatives that spell their name Zarlingo (as does my father who changed it from Zarlengo to make it phonetic). All these Zarlengo/Zarlenga/Zarlingo familes come from the same areas in what was Southern Abrutzi (now Molinese). Tim Zarlingo has been to this area and checked many relatives, took photos, visited churches for records etc.

I have had contact with other Zarlengo's/Zarlenga's/Zarlingo's in the US and in Italy - they all come from the same area of Italy: Campobasso, Pietrabbondante, Isernia...

He and his wife Dolores Malget Ricci, from Portland, OR, had 4 children - Christine who I think was born in 1953, Jeanette born in 1954, Kathleen born in 1956 and Nicholas born in 1957 (we called him Sputnik because he was born around the time the Russians shot off the Sputnik space craft. Christine had 3 children, the oldest was kidnapped and murdered just before her 10th birthday in Ely. The other 2 are Shaya Oxborrow, 23 living in Las Vegas, and Jordan who is 13-I think, and lives in Ely with his Mom.
