email from Ken Unico, Jan 2010: "If you review the information on [the 1909 passport application], it appears that Dionisio immigrated to the US the ship "Vera" inÙYMay of 1898 and wentÙYto the City of Pittsburgh, where he stayed 11 years, upon which time (1909) he returned to Italy. On May 29, 1905, he became a citizen of the United States.ÙY He states at this time (July 19th, 1909)ÙY that he intends to return to Italy for a period less than a year.ÙY (I suspect that Dionisio might be returning to Italy to either marry, however it is possible that he was already married and intended to fetch his wife)ÙY Most likely, however,ÙY Dionisio married in Pittsburgh since he returned alone in 1910"

Of course the most memorable of all was "Aunt Ermy" (Ermenia Iannocchione) who was the most maternal lady I ever met. I forget how many children she either mothered or adopted, but Lou and Al were among them. She sort of "adopted" my mother also and helped her in hard times. Maybe it actually was "Irmenia" but I'm not sure how it was spelled."

She was born Aug. 15, 1913, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Dennis and Emilia DiBattista Mariani. She was a member of St. Paul's Cathedral, Oakland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Angelo Joseph DiCecco; a grandson, Michael Andre DiCecco; and a brother, Michael Mariani. She is survived by two sons, Enrico DiCecco and his wife, Nicole, and Eugene DiCecco and his wife, Rosemarie; a daughter, Gracie DeCecco and her husband, James; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Concetta Bartolini. Visitation from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the HART FUNERAL HOME INC., Murrysville. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Paul Cathedral, Oakland. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh."
