email from Daniel Mahar, Oct 2012: "First of all thank you for your excellent site on people from San Pietro. I am helping a friend pull together a family tree. His grandmother is Josephine Cioffi Attix; her parents Vincent Cioff and his wife Domenica Maria della Croce came from San Pietro and settled first in Youngstown, Ohio. Vincent was a tailor. Two of his brothers died in 1918, I suspect from the Spanish Influenza. His wife was alive as late as 1920. About 1923, he moves to Ogden Utah and then on to San Francisco where he settled in Albany. His wife died before 1930.

I found an immigration record on ancestry.com that seems to match Vincent and with him is an older woman whose first name is hard to read but seems to be Degna Cioffi. The record is dated 1902. Vincent was only 16 and Degna was 26.

With the coincidence of the names and Vincent turning up in Ogden, I wondered if this Degna Cioffi could be the wife of Cesare Frazzini. Just to confuse things, another immigration record for Degna with her Frazzini children turn up, if I recall correctly around 1910."

The tree indicates:Francesca (b 1880) ------Giovachini? Carlini (b 1879) with 7 children in the 1930 census from Leyden, IL.

On the Ellis Island site I found Francesca Donatelli, age 33, from Ateleta,arrived in USA 11/20/1912 with four children: Antonio Carlini age 9, Nicola Carlini age 6, Carmine Carlini age 4, and Pio Carlini age 2 (from SPA). Destination Chicago to Join husband Gioacchino. Her nearest relative was father in law Carmine Carlini SPA) my grandfather.

I also found Gioachinno arriving in USA 5/30/06 going to Pittsburg to join brother in law Donatelli. SPA & Ateleta were like sister communties. I remember my father once saying that Ateleta was under the jurisdiction of SPA.
