Mike (Mike Acquafondata) Fondi passed away at the William Bee Ririe Hospital at the age of 84. He was born to Carmine and Francesca Carlini Acquafondata. Mike had lived in Ely since 1921, coming from Cobre, NV. He attended Ely Grade School and White Pine County High School. He worked the Northern Railway, first as a callboy and later as an auditor working for 47 years for the company. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 1469 where he was an Exalted Ruler from 1944 to 1945, pas District Deputy for Nevada South in 1967 and treasurer for the past 20 years, honorary member of B.P.O. Does Drove 26 and member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Clara (Orueta) Fondi, sisters, Viola Gledhill and Connie Lewis, all of Ely; son, Michael E. Fondi of Carson City; sister, Carmen Merrill and brother Loreto Lebate Jr., both of Reno; three grandsons, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Fondi and sister, Helen Dreitzler Beland.

Email from Chad Newhouse, Aug 2008: "We lost our beloved grandmother Constanza Maria (Acquafondata) Lewis in the summer of 2007. I traveled back to Ely for the funeral and met many relatives again in Ely.
I spent many summers in my youth in Ely staying with my Grandmother. So, it was really hard on me to lose her. She was 91. It was during one last visit for my grandmothers last birthday in Reno, that Lorry told me about his research on the family history. So, I was so pleased to see this site up and online."
