Sunday, March 25, 2012 Pueblo Chieftain

Emilio DeTello, 81, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away March 22, 2012. He was born April 20, 1930 in Concrete, Colo., to proud parents, Emiddio and Helen (Massaroni) DeTello. They both preceded him in death. Emilio met his sweetheart, Flora Baca in1948, at the Arcadia Dance Hall in Pueblo. They were married in 1950. To this matrimony, five beautiful children were born. Emilio, along with his wife, Flora, owned and operated Portland Auto Wreckers from 1961 until 1994. He retired with 37 years of service as a foreman in the blast furnace of CF&I Steel. Emilio was an active member of several organizations, 43 years with Pueblo Elks Lodge No. 90, and 30 years with the American GI Forum. He also formed his own chapter. He served 12 years with Rocky Mountain Head Start (SER) and 6 years with the Pueblo Work Force Center. Emilio ran for Pueblo County Commissioner in the early 1980s. He also held many executive and advisory positions with several Pueblo City and County Agencies. Emilio loved to fish, hunt and spend time with his fantastic children and grandchildren. Most of all Emilio loved his wife, Flora; they recently celebrated 62 fantastic years together. Special thanks to all Emilio and Flora's friends, and many thanks to Frontier Hospice for their great service. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Flora Ann (Baca) DeTello; his children, Betty (Larry) Martinez, Barbara DeTello-Piazza, Ted (Anita) DeTello, Frances (Sid) Gabel and Ray (Florie) DeTello; siblings, Katherine Raley and Joe Garcia; 13 grandchildren, Matthew Martinez, Renee Martinez, Michelle Gold, Corey Vigil, Jamie Vigil, Raymond DeTello, Joseph DeTello, Chris DeTello, Italia DeTello, Isabella DeTello, Giana DeTello, Annalisa DeTello and Gabriella DeTello; three great-grandchildren, Isaiah Piazza, Larissa Gold and Delicia Gold.
