Pamela Beth Carden (I16750) [Female] b. 1965 Pittsburgh, Allegheny, PA
2017 via ancestry.com messaging: "Hello! My name is Pam Carden Smith. I just received my DNA analysis and you are on my list as a 4th cousin. I wanted to reach out to you, because I am adopted and don't know anything about my birth parents. I'm hoping that I can learn who my biological family is thru these DNA connections. I was born on September 11, 1965 in Pittsburgh, PA. I was adopted approximately a year later. We lived in New Brighton, PA. My adoptive parents are from East Tennessee. So we moved to East Tennessee when I was about 3 years old. I have lived here ever since. I am married with two daughters and once grandson. Once my grandson was born, I had an increasing desire to learn about my heritage. This past Mother's Day my daughters purchased the DNA sampling for me. So here I am! I would love to hear that from you!"

Name: Pamela Beth Carden
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Birth Date: abt 1967
Marriage Date: 11 Jul 1987
Marriage Place: Carter, Tennessee, USA
Spouse: Richard Todd Smith

2017 via ancestry.com messaging: "Some of my mom's family live in Beaver Falls. Her brother lived in Coraopolis until his death in 2002 His name was Jay Ward (Charles Ward Jr)."

email Jul 2017 from Pam: "Just an update for you. Pennsylvania legislature is opening up adoption records starting in November. They are allowing early application to receive original birth certificate. I have submitted the application and also some other paperwork to obtain other information about my birth parents. Now, it is a waiting game. I will keep you posted!"

email Nov 2017 from Pam: "I know it’s been a while since we talked. I applied for my original birth certificate and received it today. It only has my birth mother listed, Margaret Irene Forbes. She was 18. The year was 1965 - Pittsburgh, PA - Allegheny General Hospital which is now Pittsburgh General. She was 18. No other information was listed. It’s a noncertified copy of my original birth certificate. The fathers name was not listed. "

email Nov 2017 from Pam: "Stephen Forbes is on my [Ancestry DNA match] list. I sent him a message in June or July. He responded that he didn't have family in my area and didn't say much else. I sent him another message Monday evening asking if he knew the name, Margaret Irene Forbes. He has not responded so far. That's a good idea to get her birth certificate and death certifcate. I will work on that. There is another gentleman who is also helping me track down my family. He is close to connecting me to my birth father. We know I'm descended from the Fusco family. There is a lady that recently came up on my ancestry list as a 2nd cousin. Her name is Terri Borroni Arias. She, obviously, is of Italian descent and is in that same family. She is also trying to help me. The name of my possible birth father is Peter C. Colaizzi. He has 2 Children, Maureen Colaizzi and Dominic Colaizzi."

Colaizzi is a good surname from my mother's hometown of San Pietro Avellana and is very likely how Pam and I have the DNA match.

I've seen Peter Victor Colaizzi born 1914, with a son named Peter C. They were in Beaver County. Peter C. is my 5th cousin, once removed. Peter V. Colaizzi is on findagrave along with his wife, Hilda DeBuino. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/100731678/Hilda-Colaizzi

Hilda's 1994 memorial has a short obituary: "Wife of Peter V. Colaizzi and daughter of Constantine & Angeline Fusco DeBuino. Children: Peter C., Mrs. Robert (Therese) Betke, Judith River & Mrs. Edwin (Karen) Murphy". So there is "Peter C." and the Fusco name.

1995 obituary of Margaret Colaizzi Borroni, Beaver County Times.

2017 Nov, I wrote this to Pam: "I'm going to ask you this but if you don't feel comfortable answering that is ok.

Would you tell me how you came across the name of Peter Colaizzi and what made you connect him as your father?

Also let know how much you want me to tell others about what you found. I will keep it totally under wraps if you want.

I've helped several people in search of their birth parents based on ancestry DNA but you are the first person that has been successful."

2017 Nov email from Pam: "Whenever I got my DNA results I sent private messages to a few people on Ancestry including you. Most people responded; a few did not. One of my matches is Adele Fusco Mulligan (3rd or 4th cousin). Her granddaughter, Kate Mulligan submitted Adele's DNA before she passed in 2015. Kate was very open about sharing with me and got me plugged in with a closed Facebook group called Montella DNA. The group consists of people whose decendants came from Montella, Italy. They recommend uploading your DNA to GEDmatch.com. I did that and Adele was the first person on my list. Two gentlemen who oversee the Montella group are Bob Ferro and Roy Pappy Rodriguez. They immediately started helping me find my linage. Roy and I are distant cousins thru the Fusco family. Bob and I are not related, but he became my main source for research. Bob hasformed a huge family tree of Montella people. He searched thru all his names and found a family member of Adele's that lived in Pittsburgh. All others lived in Philadelphia or other places. So his research stayed in that family line.

Another person in the Montella group found out about PA legislation that opened up records for adoptees and sent me a link to Ppy for my original birth record. That was at the end of June. Not much happened after that. I was just waiting. Then in September a second cousin on the Italian side showed up on Ancestry, Terri Borroni Arias. I sent her a message and we began a nice dialogue. Her father was a Boronni from the Pittsburgh area. She gave me her parents and grandparents names and permission to share with Bob. This where the Colaizzi family came into the picture. The Colaizzi family lived in Beaver Falls. And this family also connected the Fuscos. I didn't really give it much thought. So I waited. The I received my birth record with only my mother's name which is obliviously on the British side. I was happy and sad. I still didn't know my Father.

I contacted you and Bob and you both began researching. When you sent me the obit for Margaret Borroni, I knew Peter was my father. Terri's father is Ernest Borroni, Margaret's son. Margaret's brother was Peter V. Colaizzi, Peter c.'s father, thus making the connection of Teri and me being 2nd cousins. Bob confirmed my thoughts. I found Peter C.'s obit online and it has his picture. I have his eyes. Peter has a daughter and two sons. They are on Facebook. I also favor his daughter, Maureen, who is possibly my half sister. Peter lived in Beaver Falls and is the right age. I'm going to contact Maureen by email in Facebook and just say some thing like I'm adopted and researching my birth family. Your family name keeps showing up. I'm reaching out to see if you can help me connect the dots. And see what happens from there. If she could/would do a DNA test, that would confirm it.

I hope this makes sense. If you want to look at my Ancestry account, I can add you as a viewer on my account. Bob is a viewer and that has helped him help me.

I plan to try to get Margaret's death and birth certificates so I can confirm the family on that side.

I don't mind you sharing my info. It might help connect more dots.
Thank you Mark. I hope to talk soon."

2018 Feb email from Pam: "A couple weeks ago I figured out the connection between Stephen Forbes and me. My great grandfather and his grandfather were brothers. I sent him a private message on Ancestry giving him the details of getting my original birth record and obtaining Margaret's death certificate. I told him I would like to talk further with him and gave him my personal email and my work email. I never heard from him. However, last Tuesday, February 13th. at about 4:15 p.m. I received a phone call at work. It was my Aunt Mary Ann Forbes Dyer! She is Margaret's sister. Stephen didn't know what to do with the information I sent him, so he contacted Mary Ann and she was thrilled! She had always wanted to find me, but didn't know how or where to look. We have been talking & texting almost nonstop! Her whole family is thrilled. We are planning to meet sometime soon. She has sent me pictures and told me everything I asked. This is beyond all expectations. There are no words.

Stephen finally contacted me and said he was so glad I was persistent in contacting him. He didn't know Margaret very well, but was close to Mary Ann. There were three sisters, Sandy the oldest, Mary Ann the middle, Margaret the youngest. I didn't know she had siblings so this is so exciting to get to know my birth family.

Thanks for all your help. Talk soon!"

Albert Earl Colaianni
February 12, 1927 - November 29, 2014
Obituary

ALBERT "BIBS" EARL COLAIANNI, age 87, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2014. He was born February 12, 1927, in Clairton, PA, to Albert John Colaianni and Donna Lotto Colaianni.

Bibs served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and again in the Korean War. He learned to be a tailor in the Navy while stationed in London, UK, and returned to the U.S. to pursue the trade. Bibs rose in the industry, to become a plant manager for Jonathan Logan in Walnut Ridge, AR, manufacturing women's clothing. From the moment he first saw his future wife, he was smitten for life. He was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. Bibs enjoyed golf, traveling, and living life to the fullest with his family. He was also an amateur geologist and rock collector, and designed jewelry for his wife and daughters incorporating the precious and semi-precious stones he collected. Bibs applied his skills as a tailor making clothing for special occasions for his children, fixing bridesmaid dresses on his daughter's wedding day, and even repairing treasured stuffed animals for his grandchildren. He particularly loved to cook for his family, whether waffles for breakfast, ravioli for Christmas, or his extra special secret recipes for meatballs or ribs for dinner. Bibs valued all of the finest things in life that were worth "ten thumbs up", be they an extra-long meal with family and loved ones, quality fabrics and clothing, a good bottle of wine, or spoiling his grandchildren. Perhaps the best story he ever told: "Once upon a time. The end."

Bibs was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Donna Marie Colaianni; and his brothers, John Colaianni and Donald Colaianni. He is survived by his wife, Edith Colaianni; brother, Larry Colaianni (Dorothy); his children, Valerie Brown (Kelton), Albert Jeffrey Colaianni (Margaret), Janine Sherman (Steven Sherman MD), and Gregory Colaianni (Mary); his grandchildren Kristen Brown, Julia Sherman, Scott Brown, Michael Sherman, Rosie Sherman, Gabriel Colaianni and Lucas Colaianni.

Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land (Williams Trace Exit), with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM, Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell St., Houston, with the Rev. Donald S. Nesti, Celebrant.
For those desiring, donations in Bib's memory may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, at www.alz.org.
